Vinayaka Chaturthi fast is dedicated to Bhagwan Ganesh. Special worship of Ganesh is done on this day. According to the Panchang, there are two Chaturthi every month. One in Shukla Paksha and one in Krishna Paksha. The Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha falling every month is called Sankashti Chaturthi, while the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha is called Vinayaka Chaturthi. On this day Bhagwan Ganesh, the obstacle course, is worshiped.
The place of Ganesh ji is paramount among all the deities. Ganesh ji is considered to be the remover of all troubles and obstacles. By worshiping Bhagwan Ganesh regularly, happiness and prosperity increases in the house.
How to do Vinayaka Chaturthi Puja Vidhi:
According to the belief, the worship of Chaturthi Tithi should be done in the afternoon. Because the moon should not be seen in the evening time. It is believed that seeing the moon on this day gives false stigma. According to the belief, Bhagwan Krishna had seen the moon on the night of Vinayaka Chaturthi in Dwapar Yuga, after which he was falsely stigmatized for stealing the Syamantaka gem.
On this day, after taking a bath in the morning, take a vow of fasting and start the worship by sanctifying the place of worship with Gangajal. After offering a garland of yellow flowers to Bhagwan Ganesh, offer incense-lamp, naivedya, Akshat and his beloved Durva grass. After this, offer sweets or modak. In the end, after reading the fast story, do the aarti of Ganesh ji.
According to the belief, Bhagwan Ganesh is very dear to vermilion, so at the time of worship on Vinayaka Chaturthi, apply red colored vermilion tilak to Ganesh ji. While offering vermilion, chant the following mantra-
सिन्दूरं शोभनं रक्तं सौभाग्यं सुखवर्धनम् ।
शुभदं कामदं चैव सिन्दूरं प्रतिगृह्यताम् ॥
