"India for Indians",a term later adopted by Lokmanya Tilak. Condemning idolatry and ritualistic worship, he worked towards reviving Vedic ideologies. He is one of the
"Makers of Modern India". He believed in the infallible authority of the Vedas. He emphasized the Vedic ideals of celibacy, including celibacy and devotion.
Among Dayananda's contributions were his promotion of equal rights for women, such as the right to education and the right to read Indian scriptures, and his commentaries on the Vedas in Vedic Sanskrit as well as Hindi. He was a social reformer. He gave the slogan
'return to the Vedas'. He gave equal rights and respect to all people and religion.
