'Simhastha' is a Hindu religious fair which is held every 12 years in Ujjain, the city of Lord Mahakal. On March 5, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav chaired a meeting on the proposed action plan regarding Simhastha 2028 at the Mantralaya (Secretariat). During this, he said that the fair site or venue should be systematically developed for Simhastha 2028.
To promote tourism, Ujjain-Indore division will be developed as a religious-spiritual circuit. CM has given instructions to expand the ghats of Kshipra River, so that the devotees coming in large numbers can take the holy bath.
What will be the work for the religious fair?
❀ Emphasis on building 3700 meter long fourlane elevated corridor.
❀ Construction of 800 meter long foot over bridge from Indore Gate Railway Station to Harifatak Bridge.
❀ To develop the roads around Mahakal Temple with Rs 116 crore.
❀ Construction of ropeway from railway station to Mahakaleshwar temple with a cost of Rs 153 crore.
❀ To develop Mahakal Sawari Marg as a heritage street.
❀ Construction of four lane road from Nagjhiri to Datana.
❀ Widening of remaining six main roads connecting Ujjain.
❀ To revive the architectural character of 17 ghats.
❀ 16 electric buses will be operated in suburban areas and Ujjain.
❀ To carry out basic work at the seven stopping points of the Panchkoshi Yatra route.
