Within 6 months of the grand inauguration, the chief priest of the Ayodhya Ram temple claimed that water was leaking from the roof of the sanctum sanctorum after heavy rains. However, the head of the Ram Mandir construction committee assured that water leakage was expected and it is not a design issue.
The temple committee said: “When the rain was moderate it was not leaking, but after heavy rains water started leaking from the roof of the first floor. The sanctum sanctorum or sanctum sanctorum was opened to the public after a grand ceremony presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January. Before the temple was completely built, all four Shankaracharyas had opposed its consecration. He said that the consecration of the temple under construction is against the rules of Hindu religion.
