According to the Hindu calendar, the festival of Rakshabandhan, symbolizing the love of brother and sister, is celebrated on the full purnima tithi of Shravan Shukla.

This year, the festival of Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated with great enthusiasm for two days on 30 and 31 August. On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan 2023, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced free bus services for women in the state as a Rakhi gift. Women in Uttar Pradesh will be able to travel free of cost in city buses on August 30 and 31.

The Uttar Pradesh government has been providing free bus travel facility to women on this festival for the past few years on Raksha Bandhan.
