The recent purification ritual at the Tirumala Tirupati temple, conducted amid the ongoing controversy over the Tirupati laddu, highlights the deep devotion of the community and their concern over the integrity of the temple's offerings. This ritual, known as 'Shanti Homam Panchagavya Prokshan,' aimed to seek forgiveness from Lord Venkateswara Swamy and involved chanting mantras for about four hours.
The controversy revolves around allegations of animal fat being present in the laddus, which has caused distress among devotees who cherish the traditional prasadam. With around three lakh laddus prepared daily using significant amounts of ghee and other ingredients, the sourcing of ghee from a supplier in Dindigul, Tamilnadu has come under scrutiny.
As the matter escalates to the Supreme Court, many are eager for clarity and resolution. The participation of temple priests and TTD officials in the purification puja underscores the temple's commitment to addressing the concerns of its devotees and restoring faith in the sanctity of its offerings.
