Prime Minister Narendra Modi today offered prayers at the Bhagwan Jagannath temple and said he was touched by the warmth and affection shown by the people of Puri. "Overwhelmed by the warmth and affection of the people in Puri," Modi tweeted after having darshan of the Trimurti - Bhagwan Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Bhagwan Jagannath.
"This is Modi's first visit to the temple after becoming the Prime Minister. Earlier before the 2014 general elections, Modi had vowed to visit the temple again if his wish was fulfilled. Since he has become the Prime Minister, Modi expressed his gratitude.
Modi tweeted after his visit to the temple, praying at the Jagannath temple for India's development and the well-being of every Indian. Devotees will not be allowed inside the temple during the PM’s visit, and the parikrama will also remain closed.
