Voting for the seventh and last phase of Lok Sabha elections in the country will be held on June 1. PM Modi reached Kanyakumari after the campaign period of this phase of voting was over. Now he will remain meditating in the Vivekananda Rock Memorial built in the sea for 45 hours i.e. till the evening of June 1.
After reaching Kanyakumari, offered prayers and puja at Bhagwati Amman temple. Offered Arghya to Suryadev near Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari. After that he is meditating sitting in front of the statue of Swami Vivekananda.
Kanyakumari is special for India in many ways. It is in Kanyakumari that the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal meet. The special thing about this Dhyana Mandapam is that this is the same place where Swami Vivekananda meditated for three days after touring the country. It was here that he dreamed of a developed India. It is believed that Goddess Parvati meditated at this place by standing on one leg.
