Kawad Yatra 2023: Begins on July 4 (कावड़ यात्रा 2023: जुलाई 4 से शुरू हो रही है)

Kawad Yatra starting from 4th July will be of 2 months due to excess month and will end by 31st August. Kanwar Yatra has special significance in Hinduism. In the month of Sawan, the devotees of Bhagwan Shiva offer Gangajal to Mahadev by visiting Kawad. As soon as the month of Sawan begins, the Kawad Yatra begins. Kawad Yatra is performed from any holy water source to any Shivdham. This time due to Adhikamas, devotees will get a chance to express their devotion for 2 months.Kawad Yatra is an annual pilgrimage of the devotees of Shiva. Those who offer holy water to Mahadev by bringing holy water from river Ganga in Hindu pilgrimage places like Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri etc. in Uttarakhand are known as Kawadis. This festival runs during the monsoon month of Shravan July-August.

Kawad Yatra Rules
❀ The journey from starting till completion is covered on foot.
❀ The journey before and after this can be decided by vehicle etc. Its rules are considered a bit complicated. Some people do the whole journey barefoot.
❀ The Kawadiya cannot keep his Kawad on the ground during the Kawad Yatra.
❀ Touching Kawad without bathing is completely prohibited.
❀ Consuming meat, alcohol or any kind of tamasic food is completely prohibited during Kawad Yatra.
