Investigation of Gold Scam Related to Pashupatinath Temple (पशुपतिनाथ मंदिर से जुड़े सोना घोटाले की जांच)

Pashupatinath Temple Kathmandu is the oldest Hindu temple in Nepal. The Pashupatinath temple was closed for devotees on Sunday (June 25) afternoon after the country's anti-corruption body took control of the complex to investigate a report that 10 kg of gold went missing from an ornament weighing 100 kg.Last year during the Maha Shivratri festival, the newly installed gold ornament called Jalhari was installed around the Shiva Linga inside the temple. The Pashupati Area Development Authority claimed that it had bought 103 kg of gold to make the Jalhari but 10 kg of gold was missing from the jewelry.

Ghanshyam Khatiwada, executive director of the Pashupati Area Development Trust, told the media that the gold-plated Jalhari of Pashupatinath was taken away by the anti-corruption body to determine its quality and weight following questions about the missing gold.

However, after reports of 10 kg of gold missing from the jewelry were questioned in Parliament, the government has directed the Commission to Investigate the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to launch a probe.
