Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture Prahlad Singh Patel formally inaugurated the Ambubachi Fair.
The Ambubachi Mela, also known as the Ambubasi festival, is held every year during the monsoon, which is also known as the worship of
Kamakhya Devi.
It is believed that Devi Kamakhya undergoes her menstruation on these days and hence the temple remains closed for the next four days. Lakhs of devotees belonging to the Shakti sect of Hinduism from India and abroad attend the Ambubachi Mela, which is considered to be the center of the Tantric cult. This festival will continue till June 25. It is expected that this year 25 lakh visitors will come
Kamakhya Temple for darshan.
When the doors of the temple are opened, devotees wait outside the temple to receive the unique 'Prasad', which are small pieces of cloth, wet with the menstrual fluid of Devi Kamakhya. It is considered highly auspicious and powerful. If you love this news please
