Vindhyachal Mandir, also known as Vindhyachal Dham or Maa Vindhyavasini Mandir. This Mandir is situated on the banks of river Ganga in Vindhyachal, Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh. This Mandir is dedicated to Devi Vindhyavasini and is one of the Shaktipeeth Mandirs of India. It is said that the toe of the left foot of Devi Sati had fallen at the place where the present Vindhyavasini Mandir is situated.

History and Architecture of Vindhyachal Mandir
The name of the Devi Vindhyavasini is derived from the Vindhya Parvat range, which literally means, who resides in the Vindhyas. According to the scriptures, Vindhyachal city is also considered the abode of Devi Durga. Many Mandirs dedicated to other deities are found near this place. Some of them are Ashtabhuji Devi Mandir and Kali Khoh Mandir. It is said that the devi chose Vidhyanchala to stay after killing the demon Mahishasura.

This Mandir has been mentioned in Durga Saptashati. On the same night that Krishna was born, Devi Durga was born from Yashoda's womb. When Kansa tried to kill the child by crushing her body with a stone, she miraculously moved away from his grip and transformed into the divine form of the devi.

Darshan time and main festivals of Vindhyachal Mandir
The Mandir is open for darshan 7 days a week from 5 am to 9 pm. Navratri is the main festival in the Mandir. A huge fair is also organized on the occasion of Navratri. And there is a huge crowd of devotees here. On this occasion, people from every corner of the country come here to have darshan of the devi. It is believed here that during Navratri, Devi resides on the flagpole installed on the roof of the Mandir. During this festival the entire city is decorated with lamps and flowers.

How to reach Vindhyachal Mandir
Vindhyachal Mandir can be reached by government private buses, taxis and local cars. It is connected through National Highway NH2. Vindhyachal Railway Station is located at a distance of about 1 km from the Mandir. The Mandir can also be reached from Mirzapur Railway Station, about 9 km away.
