Trivatinath Temple, or Trivatinath Mahadev Temple, is a famous ancient Hindu Shiva temple in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Due to the appearance of Shivling between three banyan trees, it was named Trivati. Apart from this, a 60 feet high statue of Bholenath has been installed in the ancient Trivatinath temple. This statue remains the center of faith and attraction among the people. The special thing is that Bareilly is already known as Nathnagari because there is a temple of Bhagwan Shiva in every direction of the city.
History behind Trivatinath Temple
The Trivatinath temple was built in the middle of the 14th century when a cowherd saw Bhagwan Shiva smiling while standing under a banyan tree. When the cowherd woke up, he saw a shining Shiva Linga placed at the exact spot where he had seen the Bhagwan standing. A temple of Bhagwan Shiva was built there and it came to be known as Trivatinath Temple. Today, it is one of the famous religious places in Bareilly.
