Shri Annapurna Mandir, Indore, is one of the oldest pilgrimage sites in Madhya Pradesh. Shri Annapurna Mandir is dedicated to Devi Annapurna, the deity of food. It is one of the most visited temples by devotees in Indore Madhya Pradesh.

History and Architecture of Shri Annapurna Mandir Indore
Sri Annapurna Mandir was built in the 9th century and was rebuilt in 1959 by Mahamandaleshwar Swami Prabanandagirimaharaja. The main gate of the Mandir was built in 1975. With a blend of Indo-Aryan and Dravidian architectural styles, this Mandir is considered as the architectural heritage of the city due to its intricate carvings and elaborate paintings.

Inside the Mandir, you will see the idols of Maa Annapurna, Maa Kali and Maa Saraswati made of white marble. The idol of Maa Annapurna is about three feet high. Spread over 2 acres, this Mandir is very similar to the Meenakshi Mandir of Madurai. With a height of over 100 feet, the entrance of the Mandir is adorned with four life-size statues of elephants that stand as symbols of architectural genius. The outer walls of the Mandir are decorated with beautiful images of deities and mythological characters. There is a cow shed in the Mandir where the cows and calves are very well looked after.

Inside the Mandir complex, there are separate Mandirs dedicated to Shiva, Kalabhairava and Hanuman. Apart from this, the Mandir also has a 14 and a half feet high statue of Lord Kashi Vishwanath in lotus posture and a sermon hall for preaching. There is also a big Krishna Mandir inside the Annapurna Mandir complex where you can also see pictorial depictions of the life of Lord Krishna on the walls of the Mandir.

Shri Annapurna Mandir is open for devotees throughout the week and darshan timings are from 6 am to 11 pm.
