Rukmani Mandir - रुक्मणी मंदिर, द्वारका

Key Highlights

◉ First Temple of Devi Rukmani.
◉ Donation of Drinking Water is Highest Blessing.

Sri Rukmini Devi Temple is dedicated to Rukmini, the principal consort of Bhagwan Krishna, who is believed to be an incarnation of Mata Lakshmi. In the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, there is a beautiful four-armed deity of Mata Rukmani, in this deity, the mother is holding a conch shell, chakra, mace and padma.

The Vishal Dhwaj (huge flag waving) on the top of the temple adorns the beauty of the temple from a distance. These flags on the summit are to be changed every day according to the date and festivals. Like most of the temples of Dwarka, this temple of Mata Rukmini is also Balua Patther (built of sandstone).

It is said for the devotees who visit Dwarka Dham that this journey is not considered complete without visiting this temple. Before darshan in the sanctum of the temple, the mythology and beliefs related to the temple are described in detail by the Mahants of the temple. Along with this, concepts related to charity are also explained.

The most popular and celebrated festival of the temple is Nirjala Ekadashi, also known as Rukmini Haran Ekadashi. The donation of drinking water is considered to be the biggest important donation in the Rukmani Devi temple. Therefore, devotees donate 1001, 1100 liters of water in the temple or according to their faith and ability. The acute shortage of drinking water around the temple, prompts us to understand the importance of water.

While going to Nageshwar Jyotirling and Bet Dwarka, this temple of Devi Rukmini falls on the way as soon as it leaves Dwarka. The temple is situated at a distance of about 2 km from Dwarka on the outer side. Elephant, horse, god and human sculptures have been carved on the walls of the temple. The existence of the present temple is believed to be a 12th century structure.
