In front of the Rajgarh Palace in Datia, the largest Shivling of the city is installed in the Rishala temple. The temple was built by King Shatrujit in 1824 Samvat. The height of the Shivling installed in the temple is about four feet. The Shivling in the temple is established at a height of about 14 feet from the ground level i.e. the second floor.
The king had installed the Shivling on a huge high so that Mahadev's darshan can be seen from his palace located in front of the temple. On every Monday of the month of Shravan, devotees can be seen in queues in the temple. The world famous Shri Pitambara Peeth is situated just opposite to Rajgarh.

Government Primary and Secondary School is being run by the Government of Madhya Pradesh on the ground floor of Risala Mandir. While the temple of Bhagwan Shiva is established on the second-floor. Such a unique combination is very rare to see.
