Ranakpur is named after Rana Kumbha, who was approached by Dharna Sah, a Jain businessman, when he had a dream of seeking land for the construction of his great temple. Famous for some wonderfully carved Jain temples in amber stone, Ranakpur is one of the five most sacred places of the Jain community and is exceptional in beauty. Situated at a distance of about 60 km from Udaipur, this temple was constructed in 1439 AD.
