According to the official document, Shri Rajeshwar Temple situated on Shamsabad Road of Agra has been established here since 1625. The head of the temple Shwet Narmadeshwar Shivling, was installed by a Seth of Raja Kheda.
According to popular belief, the Shivling established in the temple changes its color thrice a day, it appears white in the morning during Mangala Aarti, light blue in the afternoon and pink in the evening. According to experts, the miracle-like changing color of Shivling is due to the rays of the sun falling on them.
The Pandits and priests working in the service of the temple, generation after generation, are constantly engaged in the service of Bhagwan. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays the temple is open throughout the day for worship.
The fair, which starts on the first Monday of the month of Sawan, is the most famous and prominent festival, under which a large number of Kanwariyas anoint the Shivling by bringing Gangajal from the springs. About 5 lakh people attend the fair, out of which 2.5 lakh people perform the abhishek of the Shivling.
On Maha Shivratri, all the four Prahars are worshiped in the temple with fruits, nuts and sweets. The 11-day long Ganeshotsav is celebrated here with great pomp, as is the Navratri festival with equal reverence. Holi celebrations are also no less famous among the people here.
On 26 April i.e. as the foundation day of the temple trust, 11 Kundi Maha Shiv Rudra Yagya is organized. Jhakis are decorated in the temple on the occasion of Janmashtami.
