Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple is located in Namakkal, a town in Namakkal district in Tamil Nadu, India. This temple is dedicated to the Hindu Bhagwan Hanuman. 'Bhagwan Anjaneyar' is another name of Bhagwan Hanuman. There is no cover on the top of the temple as it is believed that the height of Bhagwan Anjaneya is increasing every day. Anjaneyar Temple is more than 1500 years old.
History and Architecture of Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple
The idol of Bhagwan Anjaneyar is 18 feet (5.5 m) tall, making it one of the tallest statues of Hanuman in India. This temple follows the Vaikhanasa tradition. This Dravidian style temple was built by the Pandya rulers in the 8th century.
The temple has a flat entrance with a pillared hall leading to the sanctum sanctorum. The sanctum sanctorum houses an 18 feet tall Anjaneyar statue in front of the Narasimha temple at the foothills, 130 meters (430 ft) away. The idol of the Bhagwan is made from a single stone and is believed to be in existence from the 5th century. There is no roof over the sanctum sanctorum and there is a unique statue of Bhagwan Anjaneyar holding a sword in his waist and a garland made of Saligrama. This temple is considered to be one of the major temples of Tamil Nadu state and the country.
The legend of the temple is associated with Narasimha, an incarnation of the Hindu Bhagwan Vishnu, who appeared to Hanuman and Lakshmi. The temple is maintained and managed by the Hindu Religious and Endowments Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple Darshan Timings
The temple is open from 6:30 am to 8:30 pm. The consecration done to Anjaneya is amazing. The Lord is often decorated with vada garlands up to his full height. Rituals in the temple are performed four times a day: Kalasandhi at 8:00 am, Uchikala puja at 12:00 pm, Sairaksha at 6:00 pm, and Ardhajama puja at 8:45 pm. Each ritual has three stages: Alankaram (decoration), Naivedyam (food offering) and Deep Aradhanam (waving of the lamp).

The temple priests perform puja during festivals and on a daily basis. Weekly, monthly and fortnightly rituals take place in the temple.
Hanuman Jayanti, Ram Navami, Thai Poosam and Margazhi Hanuman Jayanti are the major festivals of Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple. Four daily rituals and several annual festivals are held at the temple, of which the fifteen-day Panguni Uthiram festival is celebrated during the Tamil month of Panguni (March–April), when the idols of the presiding deities are brought outside the temple. This temple attracts a large crowd of devotees especially on Saturdays and Amavasya days.

Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple is located at the foot of Namakkal Hill in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu on the road from Namakkal to Salem. There are more than 350 stairs to reach Anjaneya Hill. This place is very well connected to other cities by road and railways. It is located at a distance of about 7 hours from Chennai and Namakkal Railway Station is situated on the Salem-Karur route.
