This place has a spiritual significance. As per history due to a curse, Devi Parvati became a peacock and did penance to get back into her original form. Day by day she worshipped the shiv lingam and later she regained her original form. Bhagwan Shiva is known by Kapaleeshwarar and his consort Devi Parvati is known by Karpagambal. People come here to fulfill their wishes and desires. A very peaceful temple indeed. On the premises, you find Vinayak temple, Shani temple, navgrah temple, Murugan temple, etc. The temple has a big water tank and the Mylapore tank float festival is very famous.
