Kankali Devi Mandir is situated in Tigwa village which is about 20 km from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. This mandir is also known as Tigwa mandir. It is one of the oldest Mandirs of Devi Kali Maa, known as Shaktipeeth among Hindu pilgrims. Being so old, it is one of the centers of reverence for Hindus.

History and Architecture of Kankali Devi Mandir

The walls and pillars are beautifully decorated with sculptures of lions, trees and flowers. The door frames of the temple have intricate carvings of Mata Ganga riding her rider – the crocodile, Mata Yamuna riding a tortoise. The outer walls of the temple depict Varaha avatar and Shaivism themes. There is a depiction of Kali Mata on a wall in front of the Kankali temple. The amazing fact of this temple is that it is equally dedicated to Shaivism and Vaishnavism.
