Kalaram Mandir was built in 1782 in Nagar style from the Black Stone by the Peshwa's Sardar Rangrao Odekar. The Murti of Prabhu Shriram in the temple is built of black stone, hence it is called Kalaram Temple. Along with Prabhu Shriram, there are also attractive statues of Mata Sita and Bhai Laxman.
Sri Ram Navratri and Ram Navami celebrations in Chaitra month are the most famous festival of the temple. A grand Shobha Yatra is carried out in the city on Ekadashi which comes two days after Navami. In the month of Ashwin, in the upcoming Dussehra is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm to Bhagwan Ram in the ek divasiya palki.
The temple is regularly maintained by the Sri Kalaram Institute. According to today's geographical situation, one of the temple opens towards Sita cave and Panchvati, and the second gate leads to Gomti Sangam. Both destinations i.e. Panchavati and Gomti Sangam are within walking distance of the temple.
