On earth, Kailash Parvat is considered to be the residing place of Bhagwan Shiv, so Prabhu Shiva also worshiped as Kailashpati and known as Bhagwan of Kailash. The huge 20 ton weight largest Shivaling of Delhi is the first worshiper of Shri Kailashpati Temple. A special foundation stone has been laid in the temple to keep such a huge Shivling. This huge Shivling was brought from Chennai metropolis for establishment.
This temple of Bhagwan Shiva built from Kalinga Buddhist architecture has been built keeping in mind the Vastushastra. All the pillars built in the main building of the temple have a statue of Ashtalakshmi on the inside and all the Dasavatar of Bhagwan Vishnu on the outside. Along with the portrayal of Ashtalakshmi and Dasavatar, Panchmukhi Shri Ganesh, Mata Gayatri and Shri Krishna Kalia Mardan also have sculpted images on the pillars of the temple.
Satyanarayan Katha is performed from 10 o'clock on every purnima (full moon) of the month. On the holy festival of Shivratri, the grandeur of the temple and the enthusiasm of the devotees is made. The annual festival of the temple is celebrated in the month of May.
In the navratri of Maa Durga, special puja’s are performed for all nine days. The Ganesh festival is celebrated here with lavishly. On the very next day of Diwali at Annakut festival, Bhandare is organized in the temple.
