Chennai Jagannath Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Bhagwan Jagannath, Prabhu Baladeva and Devi Subhadra. It located in Kannathur off the East Coast Road and it is built in Kalinga architecture reminiscent of the Jagannath Temple, Puri. The idols of deities at the shrine are made of neem wood, similar to those at the Puri shrine. Its excellent architecture is an actual replica of the original Puri Jagannath Mandir at Odisha.
Temple Construction: The temple was consecrated on 26 January 2001. The shrine is a replica of the Jagannath temple at Puri and is built in Oriya style. The temple is full of Pata Chitra paintings on the walls and ceilings, similar to Oriya temples, including the depictions of the ten incarnations of Bhagwan Vishnu.
Other Deity Temples: The temple has other deities temples Kasi Biswanath, Bat Ganesh, Vimala, Devi Lakshmi and Navgrah. The entrance to the main shrine has a huge dhwaja sthamb and Yagna Mandap. The surrounding of the temple is very calm and peaceful. The lush green background and flower garden give more attractiveness to the temple. alone are used for the pooja, which is conducted in Oriya style. The priest and worship way is completely like Jagannath Puri Dham.
