Hatu Mata is believed to be the Devi(Goddess) of Narkanda region and Narkand Tribe as well. According to local belief the famous Hatu Mata Temple is the mandir of Mandodari the wife of Ravna. Hatu Peak is the highest peak in the Shimla region and its 3400 metres(12000 feet) above the sea level. And on the top of this peak is the Temple of Hatu Mata.

People come in great number on the first Sunday of Jyeshtha or June to pay ritual here. The Hatu temple architecture is Pagoda and inspired like Chinese Dragon effects. People comes with their wishes to temple, it is a belive that asking with true heart will definitly get fulfilled something therefore called Manokamnapurn Mata.

The road to Hatu temple is bifurcated from Narkanda and its approx. 6 KM long very steep ascent and one of the dangerous drive or trek to reach the temple. Its full of Deodar and spruce trees and gives the much relaxed view to the devotees.
