This temple, however hidden in the lap of peace, is narrating the disciple tradition of Guru Dronacharya and Eklavya by highlighting the ancient Indian history in its existence.
It is believed that Ekalavya, the son of Nishadraj Hiranyadhanu, went to the world's best archer Guru Dronacharya to learn archery, but Guru Dronacharya refused to teach archery to Ekalavya considering him to be the son of Nishad because Guru Dronacharya was not teaching archery to the princes of the throne of Hastinapur. Were committed to. After which Ekalavya bowed his head at the feet of Guru Dronacharya and returned to the forest and made his clay statue. Ekalavya practiced archery by keeping this statue in the supreme spirit of Acharya. Read the mythological story related to the temple in detail here
This Dronacharya temple situated in Dankaur is the same place where Ekalavya practiced archery by making the statue of Guru Dronacharya. Through his hard work and continuous practice, he became very proficient in archery.
After Ekalavya became the best archer, one day when Pandavas and Kaurava princes went to the forest land for hunting with Guru Dronacharya, the dog of the princes reached Ekalavya's ashram and started barking loudly. Ekalavya's attention started getting distracted due to the barking of the dog, due to which Ekalavya, using his archery skills, closed the dog's mouth with arrows.
Eklavya shot the arrows so skillfully that the dog did not feel any pain from the arrows. When all the princes saw that dog, they were amazed to see such a skilled archer and started praising the archer. The princes, while searching in the forest land for the Banavasi warrior, saw with their own eyes Ekalavya shooting the arrow and when asked about Ekalavya's introduction, Ekalavya addressed himself as the son of Nishadraj Hiranya Dhanu and the disciple of Guru Dronacharya.
After getting the introduction of Ekalavya, all the princes reached Guru Dronacharya and informed Guru Dronacharya about all the incidents. After listening to all the words of the princes, Guru Dronacharya himself left for the forest to meet Ekalavya. When Ekalavya saw Guru Dronacharya coming near him, he went ahead to receive him and offered himself at his feet as a disciple and honored Guru Dronacharya by worshiping him ritually.
Guru Dronacharya said to Ekalavya, Veer, if you really consider me as your Guru, will you be able to give me the gift asked by me in the form of Gurudakshina. After listening to Guru Dronacharya, Ekalavya happily said, \"Lord, what can I give you?\" Gurudev, I promise you that whatever you ask for, I will give you it without any hesitation. Then Guru Dronacharya asked for the thumb of his right hand from Ekalavya as Guru Dakshina. In the same temple courtyard, in keeping with the promise given to Guru Dronacharya, Ekalavya happily cut off his thumb and kept it in Guru Dronacharya's bag.
Drona Kund
There is also a pond in the courtyard outside the temple. Due to being an ancient heritage, it is also called Dronacharya Pond. This pond exists since the time of Eklavya in Dwapar era. After talking to the local people, it is known that this pond is cursed. People believe that no matter how much water is filled in this pond. It all dries up in just one or two days. The water in the pond does not stop. People also say that a long time ago when there was no dam on Yamuna, there used to be floods in Dankaur but due to this pond the flood water used to dry up.
It is said that the British rulers had got this pond tested, the then District Collector of Bulandshahr had dug this pond for water but he also failed in his attempt and surrendered before the miracles of Shri Dronacharya.
While digging a well inside the pond, a statue of Guru Dronacharya, made by Ekalavya himself to learn archery, was found.
After the statue, the local residents built the temple of Guru Dronacharya. This temple is considered to be about 500 years old. Gradually it started progressing in development. On the basis of faith and belief, the devotees transformed the temple into a huge one.
