Chintaman Ganesh Mandir is in the religious city of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. This oldest temple of Bhagwan Ganesha is built in Jawasya village at a distance of about 6 kilometers from Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain. To fulfill their wishes, devotees can offer any one of the offerings of milk, curd, rice and coconut in this Ganesh temple. Chintaman Ganesha present in the temple frees the devotees from worries, Siddhivinayak form grants accomplishment to the devotees and Ichchaman Ganesha fulfills the wishes.
History and Architecture of Chintaman Ganesh Mandir
There are three idols of Bhagwan Ganesha in the sanctum sanctorum of Chintaman Ganesh temple. First Chintaman, second Ichchaman and third Siddhivinayak.
According to mythological beliefs, Chintaman Ganesh is one of the six (6) Vinayakas established by Mother Sita. Bhagwan Shri Ram and Mother Sita did this during their exile. Ichchaman and Siddhivinayak Ganesh ji were established by Lakshman ji and Sita Mata. According to mythological beliefs, when Sita ji was thirsty, Lakshman ji took out water from the earth with his arrow, it is here in the form of Lakshman Stepwell.
Chintaman Ganesh Temple is believed to be from the middle of the 9th century to the 13th century i.e. the Parmar period. Along with the domes, a lion also sits on the top of this temple. According to Shriyantra, this temple was built by Maharaja Vikramaditya in Vikram Samvat i.e. 155. After this it was renovated during the Peshwa period. While the present temple was renovated during the reign of Ahilyabai Holkar, the idol of Shri Ganesha installed in the temple was standing. Today the statue is half buried underground, due to which half of the statue can be seen.
According to the age-old belief, after the Rabi crop ripens in the month of Chaitra, the local farmers first offer their crop to Bhagwan Chintaman Ganesha. They go to the market only to sell it. It is believed that by doing this Bhagwan Chintaman Ganesha removes all the obstacles in the work of the farmers. In this temple, devotees also make upside down Swastika and tie a votive thread to fulfill their wishes.
Timings to visit Chintaman Ganesh Temple
The temple remains open throughout the week and darshan timings are from 5 am to 10 pm. Morning Aarti takes place from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. Bhog Aarti time is 12 noon to 12:30 pm, Third Aarti time is 4 pm to 4:30 pm, Sandhya Aarti time is 7 pm to 8 pm, Sayan Aarti time is 9 pm to 9 pm.
Major festivals in Chintaman Ganesh Temple
Ganesh Chaturthi is the biggest annual festival held in the temple. Diwali is also a major festival. A fair is held at Chintaman Ganesh Temple on every Wednesday of Chaitra month. On Makar Sankranti, after breaking their fast, women offer dishes made of sesame seeds to Chintaman Ganesha.

Chintaman Ganesh Temple is located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The place is very well connected by road and is about 8 kilometers from Ujjain Railway Station. The nearest airport is Indore, which is about 60 kilometers from here.

❀ It is believed here that by inscribing the Swastika symbol upside down on the pillars of the temple, one prays for freedom from worries. When the matter is resolved then come back and make Swastika directly.
