The temple is a holy place for the Hindus. This holy place is considered with the greatest reverence and respect. A Hindu temple reflects the synthesis of art, the ideals of religion, beliefs, values and way of life nurtured under Hinduism. It is a link between man, the gods and the universal Purush. We all belong to some city or village and all have village deities of one or the other village temple at their respective places. So today Bhakti Bharat is going to tell about a Shiva temple in a small village in Odisha.
Brahmeswar Mahadev Temple, dedicated to Bhagwan Shiva, is located in a very small village called Dalabada. This place is located just 20 km away from Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. The temple is situated in a very quiet place and this temple is maintained by the priest and his family.
Lateral temple and surroundings:
The main deity of the temple is Bhagwan Shiva. The name of the temple is Brahmeswar Mahadev Temple after him. At the entrance there is a Hanuman temple, Panch Brukshya temple, Yagya Kund etc. The temple premise is very neat and clean. Devotees can perform various rituals, functions here and for bhog and prasad you need to consult the chief priest, they arrange everything.
There are speculations about this Brahmeswar Mahadev Temple with Bhagwan Jagannath. The Navakalebar of the Bhagwan takes place every 12 years in the Jagannath temple. Hence during Nabakalebara time the priests of Jagannath temple go out in search of Darubramha (wood). It is believed that they choose the same neem tree which is located in the temple and never made a nest of any bird or snake and there is a shamshan ghat(Graveyard) and pond nearby. The Brahmeshwar temple has a neem tree with the same Nabakalebar concept. Hence the village priest estimates that someday it may be declared as Darubramha.
Main Festivals:
Pana Sankranti and Shiva Ratri are the major festivals in Brahmeswar Mahadev Temple. During Hanuman Jayanti, the Yagya and Kirtan festival goes on for 15 days and Prasad is distributed to every devotee who visits the temple. The temple opens every morning at 5 am. Devotees can perform Hanuman Chalisa Yagya, Rudrabhishek or other Yagya here with the help of the head priest.
