Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple is the first temple of Birla chain, hence it is also known as Birla Mandir. The temple was the first newly built Hindu temple in Delhi before India's independence. The construction work of the temple started from 1933 till 1939 and was inaugurated by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
The Birla temple is spread over an area of 30,000 M2, of which 2,100 M2 is used for temple construction. Even today, this temple is counted among the few major Hindu temples of Delhi.
Along with Bhagwan Sri Lakshmi-Narayana, Mata Bhagwati and Shri Gauri Shankar are also present in the womb of the temple. Shri Ganesh, Geeta Pillar and Shri Bajrangbali are present in front of the main prayer place. Shri Bhagwan Yogeshwar and Shri Ram family can be seen as soon as they cross the huge hall of the Geeta Bhawan. The most unprecedented beauty of Geeta Bhawan, the image has a myriad of beautiful figures as Murali Manohar Shri Krishna.
The huge garden developed along with the temple just increases children's curiosity about this place. The water fountains, cheetahs, bears, unicorns, crocodiles, camels and other animals made here fascinate the value of children even more. The Artificial cave can also be seen in this temple garden. A Shiva temple has also been established, entering the giant mouth of the demon near the cave.
