Nagar Devi Maa Bhadrakali Mandir is oldest temple, when the name of Ahmedabad used to be Karnavati. At that time, temple was situated on current Manek Chowk. Due to the destructive activities of the people, the temple was badly damaged. Ahmad Shah settled Ahmedabad in the 14th century, he establishing temple according to the wishes of his raja purohit. Even today, this temple is under the supervision of the descendants of those priests.

Everyone in Ahmedabad should worship or dhyan to goddess, because Maa Bhadrakali is the nagar Devi of this city. The main attraction of the temple is the daily riders changes of Maa Kali, like lions, elephants, Nandi, lotus. The business community of the city introduces its new work by offering lotus flowers in Her feet.

Our Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi came to visit the temple every year on the occasion of New Year. The temple organizes two times Annakut in a year. Bhandara is organized after Shardiya and Chaitra Navratri. Devi Bhagwat is organized in the last week of January. Mai bhog prasad is distributed on every Sunday.

Timeline

12th century

First temple as built when Ahmedabad was names as Karnavati. At that time temple was established at current Manek Chowk.

14th century

After many attacks by mughal emperors, temple was reconstructed by Ahmed Shah in Bhadra Fort.

1920

Current structure was established by Ramnani Ji Maharaj.
