Maa Bargabhima Temple also known as Kapalini (Bhimarupa) Shaktipeeth. It is an ancient Hindu temple located in Tamluk, East Medinipur district of West Bengal. This temple is dedicated to Devi Kali and is considered to be the 51st Shaktipeeth of Maa Durga, where Sati`s left ankle had fallen. The temple has been declared a heritage site by the Government of West Bengal. Every year thousands of devotees come to seek blessings of Maa Kali.
History and Architecture of Bargabhima Mandir
Bargabhima Mandir is an ancient temple. This place has been mentioned in Mahabharata as a place which Bhima acquired. The current temple is not very old as it was rebuilt after the Islamic occupation of Bengal in the Middle Ages. In old Bengali literature, the temple was mentioned several times. The temple is a mixture of Bengali Hindu and Buddhist culture. Due to this Shakti tradition, many freedom fighters of Midnapore district took oath here that they will follow the path of dharma and free their motherland with the help of armed revolution. Famous revolutionary Khudiram Bose used to come here to perform puja.
Bargabhima Mandir Darshan Timing:
Bargabhima Mandir is open for the whole week and darshan timing is 7 AM to 1:30 PM and 3:30 to 7:30 PM.
Prime Festivals at Bargabhima Mandir
Durga Puja, Bengali New Year and Kali Puja, Diwali are the major festivals of this temple. Prasad is prepared every day for Devi Bargabhima in this temple and like most Shakti temples, the offerings to the devi is not vegetarian. Here the offerings to the devi is non-vegetarian and offering a type of fish to her is mandatory. The sacrificial ritual has now ended, but it now takes place once a year.

The place Tamluk is in Purba Medinipur district, which is around 87.2 km from Kolkata, 85 km from Kharagpur, and well connected by NH-6 and south eastern railway tracks.
