Gurdwara Bangla Sahib History and Architecture
After the death of Guru Har Krishna Sahib Ji, the eighth Guru of the Sikhs, Raja Jai Singh built a pond in his memory. The water of this pond is believed to have medicinal properties and most of the devotees take bath in it and also keep it in their homes. The former bungalow of Raja Jai Singh (known as Jaisinghpura Palace) was renovated into a Gurdwara, famous as Gurdwara Bangla Sahib. Nearby is the famous Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place.
The Gurudwara and its sarovar are now a place of great reverence for Sikhs, and a venue for special congregation on the birth anniversary of Guru Har Krishna.
The complex also houses a higher secondary school, Baba Baghel Singh Museum, a library and a hospital. A new \"Yatri Niwas\" (travellers hostel), and multi-level parking lot has been constructed. The space around the back entrance of the Gurudwara is also being decorated, so that it can be seen better from the road side.
