Pouranik Katha
Once a thief stole a black bull calf from a village and ran to a Shiva temple. He hid in the sanctum with the calf while the crowd waited outside the temple. The thief prayed to Bhagwan Shiva to free him from the crowd. Taking pity on him, Bhagwan appeared in the form of a sanyasi before the crowd and brought out the calf. The calf turned white, seeing that the crowd let the thief go. The sannyasin disappeared and the thief realized who had come to his aid. He confessed and apologized to the crowd. He resolved to spend the rest of his life in the service of the Bhagwan. Due to which Bhagwan Shiva also came to be known as Dhabaleshwar.
This place is connected to Cuttack by ferry services and recently a ropeway has been built across Mahanadi from the Athgarh side.
