The birth of Mata Yashoda, the mother of Bhagwan Shri Krishna, is believed to be on the sixth day of the Krishna Paksha of Phagun (Falgun) month. Therefore, Yashoda Jayanti is celebrated on this Shashti date to mark the birth anniversary of Mata Yashoda.
On the day of Yashoda Jayanti, along with worship of Mata Yashoda, Bhagwan Krishna is also worshiped. Like Mata Yashoda, on Yashoda Jayanti, one must do Shri Krishna Aarti by reciting Shri Krishna Chalisa to get the blessings of the Bhagwan.
On the day of Yashoda Jayanti, women, like Mata Yashoda, worship the mata to get the ultimate devotion like Bhagwan Shri Krishna. Yashoda Jayanti festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Braj area especially Nand village as well as Shri Krishna temples.
