Abhayacharanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, also known as Swami Srila Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada, was a famous Gaudiya Vaishnava guru and preacher of Sanatana Hindu religion. Swami Srila Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada was born on September 01, 1896 - a day after Janmashtami, i.e. a day after the appearance of Shri Krishna, in a small house in Tollygunge, Kolkata.
According to tradition a birth kundli was made for the newborn and the horoscope revealed that when the child turned 70, he would cross the ocean, become a religious teacher and establish 108 Krishna temples. According to the horoscope, he left for the United States in 1965 and founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) at the age of 69. On July 11, 1966, he registered the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) as an organization. New York and formally established the Society. In the 11 years that followed, Srila Prabhupada circumambulated the globe 14 times and established over 100 Krishna temples.

❀ The Appearance Day of Swami Srila Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada is a very special day for all ISKCON devotees as they joyfully glorify the anniversary of the presence of ISKCON's Founder-Acharya Srila Prabhupada in this world.
❀ According to the Hindu lunar calendar, Srila Prabhupada was born on Nandotsav (the day after Krishna Janmashtami). Srila Prabhupada's appearance day is celebrated as Vyasa Puja, an annual offering of special respect to the spiritual teacher.
❀ Devotees honor him by reading heartfelt praises and tributes to his profound influence in their lives and pray for his blessings.
❀ On this day devotees keep fast till noon, after which a feast is organized in his honour.
