According to the Hindu calendar, the Amavasya that falls in the month of Bhadrapada is called Pithori Amavasya. Amavasya Tithi falls every month, which is known by different names and also has special significance. On Pithori Amavasya, Kush is used in religious works like Pitra Tarpan etc., hence it is also called Kush Amavasya. By offering tarpan to ancestors on this new moon, one gets freedom from the troubles caused by Pitru Dosha and gets their blessings. Apart from this, on this day women worship Devi Durga and pray for the long life of their sons.
Worship method and importance of Pithori Amavasya fast?
❀ On the day of Pithori Amavasya, get up early in the morning at Brahma Muhurta.
❀ Take a bath by mixing Ganges water in the bath water. Light a lamp in the temple of the house. Offer arghya to the surya dev. Make offerings and donations for the ancestors.
❀ Do charity with the worship of Bhagwan Vishnu and Mahadev according to the bidhi.

❀ Mothers who observe this fast are blessed with long life and good health for their children.
❀ On this day, women make idols of 64 devi’s including Maa Durga with flour and offer prayers.
