Golconda Bonalu

Bonalu is a Hindu festival where Devi Mahakali is worshiped. The festival is usually celebrated during the month of Ashadha (July-August). In the Golconda temple, Bonalu is celebrated for nine days. Hence it is named Golconda Bonalu. On the first day, there will be an 'Uragimpu' procession, followed by a 'Bonam' procession from Banjara Darwaza and Vigrahapeetam rituals, in which the idols of the deities are installed.

What happens during the Bonalu festival?
Special pujas for different versions of Devi Mahakali are held in different parts of the state, but mainly Yellama, an incarnation of the Devi, is worshiped. During this festival, devotees pay homage to the local forms of Adishakti such as Yellamma, Pochamma and Maisamma to protect them and protect them from evil.

How is Bonalu prepared?
Bonalu is an offering to Devi Maa. Women prepare rice cooked with milk and jaggery in new brass or earthen pots with neem leaves, turmeric, vermilion and lighting a lamp over the pot. Which is called Bonalu. Bonalu festival continues on Sundays and Thursdays for a month in the Golconda Fort.

बोनालू एक हिंदू त्योहार है जहां देवी महाकाली की पूजा की जाती है। त्योहार आमतौर पर आषाढ़ मास (जुलाई-अगस्त) के दौरान मनाया जाता है। गोलकुंडा मंदिर में, बोनालू नौ दिनों तक मनाया जाता है। इसलिए इसका नाम गोलकुंडा बोनालु रखा गया है। पहले दिन, एक 'उरागिम्पु' जुलूस होगा, उसके बाद बंजारा दरवाजा और विग्रहपीतम अनुष्ठान से 'बोनम' जुलूस होता है, जिसमें देवताओं की मूर्तियों की स्थापना की जाति है।

Where Golkonda Bonalu Begins?

The celebrations begin at the Golconda Fort during the first Sunday of Aashaadam, followed by Balkampet's Yellamma temple on the second Sunday. On the third Sunday, the celebrations occur at the Katta Maisamma, Pochamma, and Matheswari temples near Chilkalguda and the Old city of Hyderabad.

Haribowli (Akkanna Madanna temple) and Shah Ali Banda (in Muthyalamma temple) are other popular venues for the celebrations. Thousands of devotees come to the temples to pray to the Mother Goddess.
