The very fierce form of Mata Parvati, the incarnation day of Mata Dhumavati is known as Dhumavati Jayanti. Maa Dhumavati is a widow whose Vahan is a crow and is in open hair by wearing white clothes. Mata Dhumavati is one of the ten Mahavidyas. Mata is worshiped especially during Gupt Navratri.
Widow, bhikshatan(alms), poverty, earthquake, drought, flood, thirst, crying, widowhood, putrasantap (son's anguish), discord are their real images. Frightening appearance, roughness, a crippled body whose punishment is the result of all these are Paramba Dhumavati in their original nature.
All the abilities to inflict damage and destruction by the curse are due to the Dhumavati form of Mata Sati. The original power of angry rishi’s (sages) like Angira, Durvasa, Parashuram, Bhrigu etc. has been given by Dhumavati Mata.
On Dhumavati Jayanti, chant these mantras 108 times with Rudraksh garland, 21 or 51 mala.
