Margashirsha is the ninth month in the Hindu calendar, considered highly auspicious for Hindus. According to the scriptures "Masonam Margashirshoham" means that there is no other month as auspicious as Margashirsha.

In the month of Margashirsha, apart from Lakshmi, Lord Krishna is also worshiped.

Margashirsha month is a holy month which is fully described in the scriptures. Those who fast on Ekadashi or Dwadashi are freed from all sins and the doors of heaven are opened for them. Chandrama is worshiped on Margashirsha Purnima. One of the main significance of Margashirsha month is to please the ancestors. The month of Margashirsha is auspicious for performing Tarpan and Pitra Puja for the peace and salvation of our ancestors. While fasting on Amavasya, devotees not only please deities like Indra, Shiva, Surya, Agni but also birds, animals and evils.
