Shri Kumbhandasji was a Kshatriya and his father was a man of an ordinary class and used to live by farming. Lack of money always troubled him in his life but he did not spread his hand in front of anyone. His only quality was devotion to the Bhagwan. The family of Kumbh Das was very big and he used to nurture his family only by farming.

Kumbhandas believes that the supreme devotee was a devotee of the Bhawgan, an ideal householder and a great man, and at the same time he was a renunciate and a man of great contentment. The specialty of his pious character was that Bhagwan Himself appeared and used to play games of friendship with him. Vallabhacharya ji had initiated him and he was his guru.

Compositions of Shri Kumbhandasji
Shri Kumbhandasji had composed compositions like 'Raag-Kalpadrum', 'Raag-Ratnakar' and verses found in Kirtan-collections of the sect, their total number of verses is about 500. Big kings and emperors used to consider it their good fortune to have darshan of Kumbhandas. Big fans and saints of Vrindavan had a great desire for his satsang. He always kept the fame of Bhagavad Bhakti intact, never allowed it to be tarnished by economic crisis and poverty.

श्री कुम्भनदासजी, क्षत्रिय थे और उनके पिता एक साधारण वर्ग के व्यक्ति थे और खेती करके अपना गुजारा करते थे। पैसे की कमी उनके जीवन में हमेशा परेशान करती रही लेकिन उन्होंने किसी के सामने हाथ नहीं फैलाया। प्रभु की भक्ति ही उनका एकमात्र गुण था। कुम्भ दास का परिवार बहुत बड़ा था और वे खेती करके ही अपने परिवार का पालन पोषण करते थे।
