The Statue of Equality, an idol of Sant Shri Ramanujacharya, has been inaugurated on the occasion of the 12-day Shri Ramanuja Millennium Celebrations, which continues to mark the 1000th birth anniversary of Shri Ramanujacharya. In this episode, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 216 feet tall statue of great saint Ramanujacharya in Hyderabad. This idol has been called the Statue of Equality. PM Modi duly inaugurated the idol amidst recitation of Vedic mantras.
Ramanujacharya is the father of Bhaktimarg:
Saint Ramanujacharya comes from the Hindu Bhakti tradition. He was born in 1017 AD in a Brahmin family of Tamil Nadu. He was a devotee of Varadaraja Swami and was a great saint and social reformer. Giving a message on different occasions, he had said that all are equal before Bhagwan and people of every caste have the right to take his name. Entry to the temple is open to all.

◉ The 216 feet high Statue of Equality of Bhakti saint Shri Ramanujacharya was inaugurated in the 11th century. Saint Ramanujacharya promoted the idea of equality in various aspects of life, bhakti, caste and creed.
◉ Sant Sri Ramanujacharya worked closely with the people for the idea of equality and promoted the idea of equality in nationality, gender, caste or creed.
◉ This idol is made of Panch Dhatu i.e. 5 different metals. These include iron, gold, silver, copper and bronze and zinc. It is one of the tallest statues in the world.
◉ A 54 feet high Bhadra Bedi has been made ready for the installation of this idol, on which this idol is installed.
◉ Written material, ancient documents related to the works of Saint Shri Ramanujacharya have been kept in this complex. Vedic Digital Library and Research Center is also located here.
◉ Along with this idol, 108 Divyadesham’s have been built in the premises. According to Hindu religious beliefs, there are 108 incarnations of Bhagwan Vishnu and these 108 Divya Desh is a symbol of them.
◉ The Statue of Equality is the second tallest statue in the world, in a sitting posture.
◉ This idol has been conceived and designed by Swami Chinna Jeyar of Sri Ramanujacharya Ashram.
Millennium celebrations were organized on the occasion of the 1000th birth anniversary of Ramanujacharya, one of the great saints of India. Chinna Jeyar Swami of Sri Ramanujacharya Ashram said that we are planning to make this statue of equality as a cultural symbol in a grand way so that the world can be inspired to make the place equal for all.
