Dwarka is located in Gujarat, but the Guruvayoor temple of South India, famous as Dwarka, is located in Kerala. It is believed that when there was a flood in Dwarka, the idol of Krishna was washed away in the flood. Guru Brihaspati removed the idol from the flood and restored it in Kerala. For this reason this temple came to be called in the name of Guru (Jupiter God) and Vayu (Wind God).
