On 17th April, the day of Ram Navami, at 12 noon, the idol of Shri Ram installed in the sanctum of Ram temple in Ayodhya will be illuminated by the rays of the sun.
Bhagwan's tilak will be seen being applied by the rays of Bhagwan Surya for a total of five minutes. This Surya Tilak will be of 75 mm.The consecration of the Lord with the rays of the sun was envisioned at the time of the construction of the temple. For this, the team of scientists from Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) Roorkee has worked on the design of Surya Tilak and piping.
❀ Under the Surya Tilak project, the sun's rays will be transmitted from the second floor of the Ram temple to the idol of Ramlala installed in the sanctum sanctorum through pipes and opto-mechanical systems (lenses, mirrors, reflectors etc.).
❀ For this, four high quality mirrors and four lenses have been used.
❀ Two mirrors have been installed on the second floor of the temple and two on the lower floor.
❀ The sun's rays will pass through the Ashtadhatu pipe and hit the lenses through the mirrors installed on the second floor.
❀ After this, the sun's rays will pass through the pipe and hit the mirror and lens installed on the lower floor and reach in the form of Tilak on the head of the idol of Ramlala installed in the sanctum sanctorum.
❀ The length of the pipe to be installed from the second floor to the lower floor will be eight to nine meters.
❀ For this, a gear mechanism has been used, that is, the direction of the mirror has been decided in a special way. So that every year on Ramnavmi, tilak can be applied on the forehead of Ramlala with the rays of the sun.
