The Grand Rath Yatra of Bhagwan Jagannath has special significance in Hinduism.
According to the Vedic calendar, on the second day of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Ashadha, Bhagwan Jagannath along with elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra set out on a city tour. Let us tell you that this year the Rath Yatra will be taken out with great enthusiasm on Tuesday, 20 June. But a day before the yatra i.e. today, Bhagwan Jagannath's netra utsav will be held with chanting. On this day Bhagwan Jagannath, Balarama and Devi Subhadra will appear to their devotees after 14 days. Special worship of God will be done on this occasion.
Darshan of Bhagwan Jagannath has special importance
It is believed that by seeing Bhagwan Jagannath on this special occasion, a person gets virtue and happiness and prosperity comes in life. Along with this, on the next day i.e. on the occasion of Rath Yatra, participating in the Rath Yatra and having darshan of Sri Hari gives results similar to Akshaya Punya. On this day, Bhagwan Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra sit on three special chariots and leave for the
Gundicha temple.
