A 150-year-old Hindu temple located in Karachi's Soldier Bazaar was demolished on Saturday. The vandalism was carried out late on Friday night when there was no electricity in the area. Then the excavators and bulldozers arrived to finish the job. According to media reports, they demolished the entire structure inside, keeping the outer walls and main gate intact.
It is said that it was constructed 150 years ago. As per Dawn reports, it is spread over about 400 to 500 square yards and talks were on about encroachers who had been eyeing it for some time now. Mari Mata Mandir is located on Mukhi Chohitram Road, very close to Soldier Bazar Police Station.
“The temple was under the management of the Madarsi Hindu community of Karachi and since it was being said that it was a very old and dangerous structure that could collapse any day, the temple management reluctantly but temporarily after much pressure, surrendered most of its Transferred the gods.
