Holi festival started in Thakur Banke Bihari Mandir on
Rangbharani Ekadashi. Thakur Banke Bihari gave darshan to the devotees in Jagmohan of the temple, dressed in white, adorned with gold and silver and with a bundle of colors tied around his waist.
Holi started in the temple when the temple pujari’s, representing Thakurji, showered the colors of Tesu on the devotees with a gold pitcher. To control the crowd, on the request of the district administration, the
Seva Adhikari opened the doors of the temple at 5.50 am instead of the scheduled time of 8.45 am.
There was a competition among the devotees to get drenched in the colors of Thakurji's Prasad and there was enthusiasm among the devotees to take every drop of the shower of colors coming out from the water sprayer. Devotees started dancing in the temple while singing Holi Rasiya. In Barsana, Vrindavan, and Mathura, Holi celebrations start a week early and continue until March 26th. The festivities span 10 days.
