First Monday of Sawan: Har Har Mahadev Echoed in Shivalay (सावन का पहला सोमवार: शिवालयों में गूंजा हर-हर महादेव)

A huge crowd of devotees started thronging the shivalay’s since early morning. Devadhidev Mahadev was worshiped by offering bel patra, dhatur, milk, Ganga jal, naivedya, fruits and fragrant flowers. A large number of Kanwariyas performed Jalabhishek in the Mahadev temple. A huge crowd of bhole bhakt thronged all the major shivalay.Long queues of devotees were seen at Mankameshwar Mahadev Temple on the banks of the Yamuna and Hanumat Niketan Shiv Temple at Civil Lines. Queues of female and male devotees were seen at the temples. There were chants of Har Har Mahadev and Bol Bam along with Shiv Tandav and Om Namah Shivay. In all the small and big Shiva temples of the city and village, worship and jal abhishek started from early morning itself. After filling water from Dashashwamedh Ghat, the Kanwariyas left for Kashi Vishwanath.

Extensive arrangements were made for the security of the police around the temples. There was a queue of devotees since morning at the Bade Hanuman mandir situated on the banks of the Sangam. The atmosphere was devotional with the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa and Sunderkand.
