Ahmedabad city's Jagannath temple will send three decorative crowns to the
Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, said temple trustee Mahendra Jha during a press conference ahead of the upcoming Rath Yatra on Friday.
"The three crowns made for the Ram temple will be sent to Ayodhya soon," Jha said. However, he did not mention whether the crowns would be part of the temple or would be sent as a gift.
The 146th Rath Yatra is scheduled to take place on June 20 with three chariots, eight elephants, 101 trucks/tableaux, 30 akhadas, 18 bhajan groups and three music bands along the traditional route.
Jha told the media that this would be the second Rath Yatra in which Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel would perform pahandi rituals. He said, "Union Home Minister Amit Shah will perform Mangala Aarti on the morning of the Rath Yatra."
This year, new chariots are being taken out for the deities in the
Ahmedabad Jagannath Temple. Jha said that the color scheme and design are inspired by the chariots of the
Puri Rath Yatra. Built for Rs 85 lakh, the chariot is longer and wider than the previous one.
