The popular and important place of worship in Mumbai is the
Sri Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple which is located in Prabhadevi. According to written government documents, the first construction of this temple was done on 19 November 1801.
This Murti of Siddhi Vinayak is a quadrilateral(Chatturbhujji), with a lotus in his upper right hand, a curb in the left hand, a garland of pearls in the bottom right hand and a modak filled with left hand. Riddhi and Siddhi, the two wives of Shri Ganapati, the symbol of wealth and opulence, are seated on either side of them, which are the success and fulfillment of all desires. A third eye is adorned on the forehead like his father Lord Shiva, and a snake is wrapped around the neck in place of the necklace. This Murti of Siddhi Vinayak is made up of one and a half feet high and two feet wide Blackstone.
Most of the devotees worship Bhagwan Ganesha with folded curls on the left side. But in this temple, devotees worship Ganesha with curved curls on the right side. According to public opinion, Ganesha's right hand curved deity is considered to be the perfect back, so this Ganpati temple in Mumbai is a Siddha Peetha. It is believed that such Ganapati is pleased very soon and enraged as soon as possible.
