Maa Ramchandi Temple is located on the bank of Kusabhadra river. The presiding deity Devi Ramchandi is the protector of the Konark region. It is only 5 km away from
Konark in the Puri District of Odisha.
This is one of the famous Shakti pithas of Odisha. Graceful Maa Chandi, seated on a Lotus flower in a small temple half-hidden by sand mounds. The deity of Konark is thought by some to be the presiding deity of this temple, while others thought it to be the temple of Mayadevi, wife of Bhagwan Surya (Sun). Bhagwan Surya who worshiped in the Konark Temple.
One can view the amazing different colors of water on Ramchandi beach in the backside of the temple. This is happening due to the meeting point (Muhana) of river Kushabhadra and the sea bay of Bengal. It's a popular picnic spot nearby. Every year from Nov-Feb this place is fully crowd because of its serenity.
Enjoyable boating and camel riding on the sands available for beach visitors. Because of its serenity, a poet named Nilakantha Dash written a poem about this place “Ramachandire Sandhya”(An evening in Ramachandi).
